Elliott, Bob (26 Mar. 1923–2 Feb. 2016), radio and television comedian and actor, was born Robert Brackett Elliott in Boston, Massachusetts, the son of Fred Russell Elliott, an insurance salesman, and Gail Marguarite Brackett, an artistic needle-worker and refinisher of old furniture. He was brought up in Winchester, a prosperous suburb about eight miles north of the city. A lover of radio from an early age, after graduating from Winchester High School he attended the Feagin School of Dramatic Radio and Arts in New York City for a summer and then a full year, while working as an usher at Radio City Music Hall, and later as a page at NBC.
