Rodgers , Cal (12 January 1879–03 April 1912), the first aviator to cross the United States in an airplane, was born Calbraith Perry Rodgers in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Rodgers was named after his father, Calbraith Perry Rodgers, an army captain who died in Wyoming Territory five months before his birth; his mother was the former Maria Chambers.
