Simpson, Wallis Warfield (19 June 1896–24 April 1986), duchess of Windsor, was born at Blue Ridge Summit, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Teakle Wallis Warfield, a bank clerk, and Alice Montague. The Warfields and Montagues were both old, reputable Baltimore, Maryland, families, but the two families did not get along.
