Danzig, Allison (27 February 1898–27 January 1987), sports journalist, was born in Waco, Texas, the son of German immigrants Morris Danzig, a timber merchant, and Ethel Harvith. His father moved the family to New York City in 1909, when he entered the knitting goods manufacturing business. Later the elder Danzig relocated his business to Albany, New York, where Allison excelled in scholastics and sports. Despite his height of 5′ 6″ and weight of 117 pounds, he played quarterback on the Albany High School football team. Danzig also played baseball and competed in track and field. In 1917 he graduated from high school and won a Regents Scholarship to Cornell University....
