Jennings, Waylon (15 June 1937–13 February 2002), American country musician, was born Wayland Arnold Jennings, son of William Albert and Lorene Beatrice (Shipley) Jennings. He spent his childhood in Littlefield, Texas, playing the guitar from age eight and making his debut as a disc jockey for a local radio station at twelve.
