Wallack, James William (24 February 1818–24 May 1873), actor, was born in London, England, the son of Henry John Wallack, an actor-manager, and Fanny Jones. Known as “Wallack the Younger”—he was the nephew of the renowned actor James William Wallack “the Elder” (1795?–1864)—Wallack was the scion of a prominent British and Anglo-American theater family. Within a year of his birth he immigrated with his parents to the United States, where he spent his earliest years closely associated with the American stage.
