O’Connor, Flannery (25 March 1925–03 August 1964), short-story writer and novelist, was born Mary Flannery O’Connor in Savannah, Georgia, the daughter of Edward Francis O’Connor, Jr., a real estate agent, and Regina Cline. In 1938 the family moved to Milledgeville, Georgia, which was to become the center of Flannery O’Connor’s literary career. Edward O’Connor, who had been ill for some time, died of lupus erythematosus in 1941....
