Robinson, Amelia Boynton (18 Aug. 1911–26 Aug. 2015), civil rights activist, was born to George Platts, a builder, and Anna Eliza Hicks Platts, in Savannah, Georgia. Amelia Platts was one of ten children. Her mother was a profound influence. A suffragist and entrepreneur, she took Amelia as she traveled from house to house encouraging black women to register to vote and even driving them to be registered or cast their vote at the polls after the passage of the Nineteenth Amendment....
