Morgan, Thomas Hunt (25 September 1866–04 December 1945), biologist, was born in Lexington, Kentucky, the son of Charlton Hunt Morgan, former U.S. consul to Messina, Italy, and Ellen Key Howard, granddaughter of Francis Scott Key. Morgan became interested in natural history at an early age while roaming the countryside around Lexington and the Cumberland Mountains of Maryland where his family visited in the summers.
