Parsons, Mary Almera (02 May 1850–12 January 1944), physician and reformer, was born in Colebrook, New Hampshire, the daughter of Hezekiah Parsons and Sarah Bragg. Little is known about her family background other than that her grandmother was a midwife in northern New Hampshire and may have inspired Parsons to pursue a career in medicine. As soon as Parsons completed her secondary education at the Robinson Female Seminary in Exeter, New Hampshire, in 1870, she entered medical school at Howard University in Washington, D.C.
