Morgan, John Pierpont (17 April 1837–31 March 1913), investment banker, was born in Hartford, Connecticut, the son of Junius Morgan, a merchant banker, and Juliet Pierpont, daughter of a Unitarian minister. J. P. Morgan was educated at the Hopkins Grammar School in Hartford, the Hartford Public High School, and finally Boston’s English High School, from which he graduated in 1854. He then attended the Institution Sillig at Vevey in Switzerland and spent two years at Germany’s Göttingen University....
