Lincoln, Mary Todd (13 December 1818–16 July 1882), first lady, was born in Lexington, Kentucky, the daughter of Robert Smith Todd, a well-known Whig politician and, at various times in his life, a banker and partner of a dry-goods firm, and Eliza Parker.
