Webster, Daniel (18 January 1782–24 October 1852), politician and lawyer, was born in Salisbury, New Hampshire, the son of Ebenezer Webster and Abigail Eastman, farmers. One of ten children, Daniel Webster was a frail but gifted child. His father, a veteran of two wars and active in local affairs, provided the funds necessary for Daniel to attend Dartmouth College.
