Macomb, Alexander (03 April 1782–25 June 1841), soldier, was born at Detroit, Michigan Territory, the son of Alexander Macomb, a successful merchant, and Catharine Navarre, daughter of a former French official. The family relocated to New York City shortly after the Revolution, and Macomb attended primary schools in Newark, New Jersey.
