Research Ideas

The American National Biography can be an invaluable tool in the classroom, but with over 20,000 articles, teachers and students may wonder where best to start. With that in mind, Oxford editors have created the following subject guides framed around the most widely taught and studied fields of U. S. history. These small, highly selective lists are designed to help teachers integrate the ANB into their courses and to help students (and all readers) navigate the ANB according to their immediate research interests. Each subject guide also includes a selection of broad overview articles from the Oxford Companion to United States History. We are excited to continue updating these lists over the coming months.
