The November update of the American National Biography features five new biographies:

Blackwell, Unita (18 Mar. 1933–13 May 2019), civil rights activist and the first Black woman mayor in Mississippi
Bolin, Jane Matilda (11 Apr. 1908–8 Jan. 2007), attorney, judge, and civil rights activist
Carlson, Grace Holmes (13 Nov. 1906–7 July 1992), Trotskyist partisan, Catholic lay activist, and educator  
Papunhank (c.1705–15 May 1775), religious visionary, spiritual leader, and peacemaker
Sheets, Millard (24 June 1907–31 Mar. 1989), watercolorist, architectural designer, and impresario of art and architecture commissions in many traditional media
