Owens, Buck (12 Aug. 1929–25 Mar. 2006), country musician, singer, songwriter, bandleader, and television personality, was born Alvis Edgar Owens, Jr. in Sherman, Texas, the son of Alvis Edgar Owens and Maicie Azel Ellington, tenant farmers.
