Weaver, Sylvester (Pat) (21 December 1908–15 March 2002), broadcasting and advertising executive, was born Sylvester Laflin Weaver Jr. in Los Angeles, California, the son of Sylvester L. and Annabel Dixon Weaver. The elder Weaver was a prosperous manufacturer of roofing materials and shingles; Weaver’s mother was a musician and writer. Growing up in Los Angeles Weaver was a voracious reader who also enjoyed playing tennis and baseball. He mixed easily with the city’s well-to-do as well as young film actresses.
