Roosevelt, Kermit (10 October 1889–04 June 1943), businessman and explorer, was born in Oyster Bay, Long Island, New York, the son of Theodore Roosevelt, twenty-sixth president of the United States, and Edith Kermit Carow Roosevelt. He spent his early years at family residences in New York State and Washington, D.C., as his father pursued a political career.
