Dietzgen, Peter Joseph (09 December 1828–15 April 1888), writer and socialist philosopher, was born in Blankenberg near Cologne, now part of Germany, the son of Gottfried Dietzgen, a master tanner, and Margaret Lückeroth. He had an elementary education and some high school in Cologne prior to learning his father’s trade.
