Veiller, Bayard (02 January 1869–16 June 1943), playwright and film executive, was born in Brooklyn, New York, the son of Phillip Bayard Veiller, a stockbroker, and Elizabeth du Puy. His father was of French descent, and the family name was pronounced “Vay-yay.” Bayard Veiller’s education ended at age sixteen, when he left the pre-collegiate program at City College of New York.
