Bernays, Edward (22 November 1891–09 March 1995), public relations counsel, was born in Vienna, Austria, the son of Eli Bernays, a merchant and grain exporter, and Anna Freud, sister of Sigmund Freud. When he was one year old, his family immigrated to the United States, and he enjoyed a comfortable upbringing in New York City.
