Wilson , Dagmar Searchinger (25 January 1916–06 January 2011), peace and antinuclear activist and children's book illustrator, peace and antinuclear activist and children’s book illustrator, was born Dagmar Searchinger in New York City to Caesar Searchinger and Marion Ballin. She grew up in Europe, where her father worked as a music critic and journalist with CBS and NBC Radio. Raised a pacifist, Dagmar attended a progressive school in England. She graduated from the Slade School of Fine Art in London in 1937 and met her future husband, Christopher Wilson, while teaching art at a London elementary school. Married in 1939, Dagmar and Christopher moved to Saint Louis, Missouri, where Christopher briefly attended medical school....
