Kunstler, William Moses (07 July 1919–04 September 1995), attorney and political activist, was born in New York City, the son of Monroe Bradford Kunstler, a prosperous physician, and Frances Mandelbaum. A French major and varsity swimmer, he graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Yale University in 1941. Kunstler volunteered for the signal corps in World War II and rose to the rank of major, winning the Bronze Star for his service in the Pacific.
