Lucas, Jonathan (1754–01 April 1821), millwright, was born in Cumberland, England, the son of John Lucas and Ann Noble. His mother’s family owned mills in Whitehaven, and he learned that trade in his youth. He married Mary Cooke in 1774; they had five children. After she died, sometime between 1783 and 1786, he married Ann Ashburn of Whitehaven....
