Hubbard, Gurdon Saltonstall (22 August 1802–14 September 1886), fur trader and pioneer Chicago businessman, was born in Windsor, Vermont, the son of Elizur Hubbard, a lawyer and businessman, and Abigail Sage. Young Hubbard attended the local common school. In 1816 his father moved the family to Montreal, Quebec.
