Malter, Henry (23 March 1864?–04 April 1925), scholar, author, and teacher, whose given name is rendered in Hebrew as Tsvi, was born in Banse, near Zabno, Galicia, then part of Austria, the son of Solomon Malter, a scholarly man of modest means, and Rosa, whose maiden name, according to some American sources, was also the rather common name of Malter.
