Miller, Fishbait (20 July 1909–12 September 1989), doorkeeper of the U.S. House of Representatives, was born William Moseley Miller in Pascagoula, Mississippi, the son of Albert Magnus Miller, a sea captain, and Nettie Maddox. Perhaps because his father abandoned the family, Miller actively developed people-pleasing skills at a very young age. During these years he acquired the name of Fishbait due to his small size; he retained it all his life, although at times he weighed as much as 275 pounds....
