Towers, John Henry (30 January 1885–30 April 1955), U.S. Navy officer and aviation pioneer, was born in Rome, Georgia, the son of William Magee Towers and Mary Norton. He received his education at local schools, the Georgia School of Technology (now the Georgia Institute of Technology) in Atlanta, and the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland.
