Ashby, Turner (23 October 1828–06 June 1862), Confederate cavalry leader, was born on the family farm in Fauquier County, Virginia, the son of Turner Ashby (Sr.) and Dorothea Green. He was the grandson of noted revolutionary war soldier Captain “Jack” Ashby.
