Whalley, Edward (1615?–1675?), regicide, was born in Nottinghamshire, England, the son of Richard Whalley and Frances Cromwell. As a second son, not destined to inherit the family estate, he was brought up to merchandise and became a linen draper. With his first wife, Judith Duffell, he had an unknown number of sons and daughters. These included his eldest son John and a daughter Frances, who married Major General William Goffe. With his second wife, Mary Middleton, sister of Sir George Middleton, he may have had a son, Edward....
