Miller, Ann (12 April 1923–22 January 2004), actress and dancer, was born Johnnie Lucille Ann Collier in Chireno, Texas, to John A. Collier, a criminal attorney, and Clara Birdwell, whose own mother was a Cherokee Indian. According to family legend John Collier named his daughter after himself, disappointed that his wife had not produced a son; however she was called Lucille and nicknamed Lucy.
