Nissen, Greta (30 January 1905?–15 May 1988), dancer and actress, was born Grethe Ruzt-Nissen in Kristiania (Oslo), Norway, the daughter of Carl Andreas Franz Nissen, an agent, and Agnes Magdalene Larsen, a cashier. In 1908 Grethe’s mother divorced her improvident husband and relocated in Copenhagen with Grethe and her younger brother. Grethe was coached for a dance career from early childhood. Queen Maud reputedly accepted her as a protégé in 1911, and that same year her mother may have falsified her actual age by one year to enroll her in the Laeseskole for Balletelever (Reading School for Ballet Students) of Det kongelige Teater in Copenhagen....
