Kahn, Louis I. (20 February 1901–17 March 1974), architect, was born in Kingisepp, Saaremaa, Estonia, the son of Leopold Kahn, a paymaster in the Russian army, and Bertha Mendelsohn. The family emigrated to Philadelphia in 1906, where he attended public schools and took additional courses in art and music for gifted children.
