Patterson, Ada (05 July 1867–26 June 1939), newswoman, was born in Mount Joy, Pennsylvania, the daughter of John M. Patterson and Elizabeth Ellen McDannel Patterson, farmers. In 1877 Patterson moved with her family to Franklin County, Nebraska. After graduating from Franklin Academy in 1885, she taught school for four years in Riverton, Nebraska, and for one or two years in Lincoln, the state capital.
