Dunne, Finley Peter (10 July 1867–24 April 1936), journalist, was born in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Peter Dunne, a carpenter and lumber retailer, and Ellen Finley. Both parents were Irish immigrants. After graduating from Chicago’s West Division High School, Dunne began a career as a newspaperman in the city in 1884.
