Horsfield, Thomas (12 May 1773–24 July 1859), naturalist, was born in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, the son of Timothy Horsfield, Jr., and Juliana Parsons. His early education was in the Moravian schools at Bethlehem and Nazareth, and he then engaged in studies in pharmacy and botany. He continued his education as a medical student at the University of Pennsylvania and graduated in 1798.
