Berkeley, Busby (29 November 1895–14 March 1976), stage and film choreographer and director, was born Busby Berkeley William Enos in Los Angeles, California, the son of Francis Enos, a stage director, and Gertrude Berkeley, a character actress. Berkeley’s mother and father were associated with the Tim Frawley Repertory Company. Although they wanted to spare him the life of the theater, he soon joined them on stage.
