Lauren Bacall

Lauren Bacall (1924–2014), actress, was born Betty Joan Perske in the Bronx, New York. Recognised as one of Hollywood's most enduring icons, Bacall's career spanned six decades with more than sixty films, including The Big Sleep and The Mirror Has Two Faces.

Jane Addams

Jane Addams (1860–1935), social reformer and peace activist, was born on the Eve of the Civil War in northern Illinois. In 1931 she became the first American woman to be awarded to Nobel Peace Prize, and is recognised as the founder of social work in the United States.
